Anya Taylor-Joy confirmed that she secretly married Malcolm McRae two years ago, taking to Instagram to share previously-unseen photos of her gothic-inspired New Orleans wedding on April 1, 2022.

Taylor-Joy posted photos from her big day which included an image of “anatomically correct” heart-shaped cakes, and photos of the actress in her Dior wedding gown, along with the caption: “Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans. The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever. Happy second ( first ) anniversary my love…you’re the coolest🫀 N.B yes, those are anatomically correct heart cakes. Yes, I am the vampire Lestat.”

McRae, the frontman of the rock band More, also posted photos on social media, writing: “I love you now and somehow I always have and somehow it will never end. Happy two year anniversary (yesterday), beautiful.”

Taylor-Joy has starred in Netflix‘s The Queen’s Gambit and films such as The Witch, Last Night In Soho, Emma and Dune: Part Two. She has been romantically linked with frontman McRae since May 2021. There had been rumors of their marriage in recent years, with conflicting reports made by Page Six who stated that McRae and Taylor-Joy were married in an “intimate courthouse wedding” in July 2022, and a report via PEOPLE of a ‘star-studded’ wedding in Venice in October 2023.
